The 442nd Japanese-American Regimental Combat Team dedication stone was specially designed and fabricated as a single piece. The actual granite boulder, approximately 3x3 feet, was split in half. The face was machine polished and then the perimeter was chiseled back to give the plaque a raised look, all in one piece.
