The Greer and Macauley Monument is generally considered to be one of the finest types of hand crafted memorializations to be seen. Fabricated in 1887 from premium grade Italian Carrera Marble, it has significant bas-relief and sculpted workmanship.
Using a non-invasive technique including but not limited to: water blasting, resurfacing of the flat areas with 800 grit diamond pads, the application of a dark shadow dye in all the lettering to insure continuity of appearance between the old and new and clear legibility the monument was restored to its original grandeur and splendor in June 2003.
This work is not in any way in acid bath wash, which will in reality deteriorate this fine type of marble, but a complete reconditioning and renovation which not only restored the entire memorial as close as possible to its original appearance but helps to preserve it for years to come.
