Seabiscuit Memorial
Seabiscuit Memorial

The original Seabiscuit Memorial was fabricated by Valerio Fontana in 1947 and was placed over the horse's final resting place on the family's 5000 acre Willits Ranch. The property was subsequently sold and the original monument was moved to Saratoga Springs in New York. The people who bought the Willits Ranch then sold it and it is now in a trust. Seabiscuit was never moved and V. Fontana & Co., 60 years later, was commissioned to make a duplicate memorial for him.
All original specifications, including letter style, size of the wreath, size, and finish of the memorial pedestal were removed from the V. Fontana & Co. archives and an exact duplicate was replicated in 2007.
