The Stanley X. Cook Memorial Dedication Boulder was specifically fabricated and placed in the Tiburon Ferry Plaza. The concept was to have a series of naturally rough-hewn granite type boulders. His name and epitaph was engraved on the plaque area of the main boulder. One of the unique aspects of this piece is that the plaque area was machine finished smooth and is part of the boulder itself. The entire face was sawn and then hammered, blasted and chiselled back to give it a natural look. A portion remained for the name to be engraved. This unique process simulates a plaque on the stone but in reality, it is all one unit. This is the most enduring type of dedication stone available.
